Emptoris Contract Management

Overview of Emptoris Contract Management

In the late 1990’s Avner Schneur founded Emptoris, this was later acquired by IBM.  On December 15, 2011, IBM announced a deal to acquire Emptoris as part of its “Smarter Commerce” initiative. On February 1, 2012, IBM announced the completion of the acquisition of Emptoris. The software provides an IT platform for strategic supply and contract management software including applications for spend analysis, sourcing, contract management, supplier lifecycle management, services procurement, compliance management and telecom expense management.

It has since announced a partnership with SAP Ariba. IBM would be closing Emptoris products and directing customers to SAP Ariba.

Migration to the Ariba platform will cost money and could be a headache if there is lots of data to move across.  There are newer contract management systems available but the user may certain preferences especially if they know the system inside out.

Emptoris modules will help you discover, create, negotiate, execute and manage contracts.

Emptoris is used by businesses to oversee all types of contracts, such as sales, procurement, and enterprise. The software increases global contract visibility, creating stronger contracts and optimizing legal resources. The system also helps improve supplier relationships by mitigating risk and automates contract management processes, helping decrease time to closure and improving client experiences.
